Leading Interactive Television Company Hires Andy Addis, Former SVP of Comcast, as SVP Marketing & Business Development & Tom Epes, Former Microsoft GM as SVP of Sales
NEW YORK — April 8, 2009 — Ensequence, the interactive television company, today announced the addition of two experienced leaders in the cable and technology industries to its executive team. Andy Addis, former SVP of Comcast and EVP of Hillcrest Labs, joins as Senior Vice President of Marketing & Business Development. Tom Epes, former Microsoft GM, is now Ensequence’s Senior Vice President of Sales. Addis and Epes each bring more than 25 years of experience in executive business management to Ensequence. Addis and Epes report directly to Peter Low, Ensequence President and COO.
"Andy and Tom bring a unique understanding of how to use technology to drive business profitability in the media industry to our team,” Low said. “They will each play critical roles in meeting the business goals of programmers, distributors and advertisers, helping our customers make TV even more powerful and engaging by delivering the most dynamic interactive TV experiences in the industry.”
Addis joins Ensequence directly from Hillcrest Labs – a start-up focused on next-gen navigation – and, prior to that, Comcast and Kraft Foods. At Comcast, Addis was SVP Marketing & New Products where he led the definition and launch of Digital Cable, VoD, DVR and HDTV. Addis also played a leading role in a number of cross-MSO initiatives, including co-chairing the "MSO Marketing Council," comprised of the CMOs of all the major cable operators.
“The ability to deliver interactive television to millions of people is no longer an idea – it’s a reality. My experience in cable, digital media and brand management gives me insight into how Ensequence can partner with programmers, distributors and advertisers to enrich the viewing experience and drive ratings and advertising effectiveness,” Addis said.
Epes spent more than 16 years in senior sales and consulting services management positions while at Microsoft. For the past seven years, he lead the commercial and consumer sales and business development efforts across the company’s enterprise software, mobile, television, and hosting businesses for the cable, telecommunications and media Industries. Most recently he was General Manager of U.S. Services and Support for the Communications Sector at Microsoft. He will lead Ensequence’s expansion of its distribution and sales channels in addition to driving strategy for delivering commerce solutions to interactive television viewers.
“Similar to the way the browser changed the way consumers engaged with their PC and the internet, companies like Ensequence are revolutionizing the way consumers interact with programming content and advertising campaigns on television. It’s an exciting time to get involved with Ensequence as the adoption of interactive TV is accelerating and the company is leading the charge,” Epes said.
